Cambridge United have confirmed that Hiram Boateng has extended his loan at the Abbey Stadium until the end of the season.

Boateng, on loan from MK Dons, is currently out injured but is now set to help the U’s in their play-off push during the second half of the season.

Hiram Boateng to Remain With Cambridge United Until End of the Season

Season so Far

Prior to his injury, Boateng was a familiar face in the U’s midfield, making 12 appearances in all competitions. During his spell in the side, Mark Bonner’s side enjoyed an impressive run, losing just three games.

As a result, it shows the quality that 25-year-old possesses and what Cambridge are perhaps currently missing. With his experience in League Two and League One, Boateng’s return is likely to be a huge boost for the U’s in what has been a surprising season at the Abbey. Cambridge were not expected to push for the play-offs this season, but are currently fifth in League Two.

What Was Said?

Speaking about the news to the official Cambridge United website, Bonner said: “We are delighted that we have Hiram with us until the end of the season and look forward to welcoming him back from injury.

“From the outset the plan for Hiram was to get playing again and his impact on the team was excellent prior to his shoulder dislocation. He is working hard to stay fit and when his recovery is complete will offer real strength to our midfield for the season run in, and whilst we are without him for a little longer, believe it is worth waiting that period of time until he is ready to re-join the squad.

“He is a character we like and possesses real quality in possession. I believe he is enjoying his football and that will be to our benefit in the months ahead.”
