Klaas-Jan Huntelaar has agreed a deal to join Schalke and will have a medical ahead of a move, according to Mike Verweij.
Klaas-Jan Huntelaar Set to Return to Schalke
Still Scores on a Regular Basis for Ajax
The striker has been with Ajax since 2017 and, despite being 37-years-old, continues to score regularly enough for the Dutch side. In fact, this season he has managed a total of seven goals in 11 league games for the club.
During his time at Ajax, he has also claimed several league titles and Schalke are hoping that he can carry his career experiences over to the Bundesliga and help them in their bid to escape relegation.
It won’t be the first time that the forward has played for the German side either – he played for the club for seven seasons before his move to Holland and bagged a total of 82 goals in 175 matches for Die Königsblauen.
If he can score half that amount for the Bundesliga side it’ll be good for them, with the club desperate to try and break out of the relegation places in the league.
Previously Played for AC Milan and Real Madrid
He’s also featured for AC Milan and Real Madrid and was once one of the most prolific strikers and most wanted forwards in Europe.
He has a total of 253 goals in 453 games and, even over the last few seasons, has proven that he still knows how to find the back of the net on a regular basis, despite his age.
Klaas-Jan Huntelaar to Undergo a Medical Before Schalke Move
Having agreed a deal to return to Germany and to his former club Schalke, he is now set to undergo a medical with the club ahead of a deal.
Once that is complete, Huntelaar will be unveiled as a Schalke player – and the club and its fans will be hoping he can be just what they need and will provide the goals to help them start winning games in the Bundesliga for them.
