Exeter City have signed Fleetwood Town centre-back Sam Stubbs on a permanent deal.
Stubbs has signed a two-and-a-half-year deal at St James Park and becomes the Grecians first January signing.
The 22-year-old joins an Exeter side looking to sustain their promotion bid.

Stubbs Brings Plenty of Experience at Just 22 Years of Age
The centre-back is well travelled at just 22, featuring for several clubs in three countries. He is a product of the Wigan Athletic academy, and loans on his CV include a spell in Scotland with Hamilton Academical and a spell in the Netherlands at ADO Den Haag, working with Alan Pardew and Chris Powell.
Aside from time in Scotland and the Netherlands, Stubbs has Football League experience, turning out for the likes of Crewe Alexandra and Fleetwood Town. Stubbs joined Fleetwood in the summer transfer window but has played just five times in League One.
Stubbs wants to play and a move to promotion hunting Exeter City can offer that. He joins a Grecians side looking to maintain their promotion bid. They sit ninth in League Two but have games in hand on all the sides above and around them. A big second half of the season lies ahead for Matt Taylor’s team.
Stubbs could make his debut this weekend when Exeter welcome Stevenage to St James Park. A great opportunity for the Grecians to push themselves closer to the play-off places.
Stubbs Raring to Go
Speaking to the Exeter City website about his move, Stubbs said: “There is a lot about Exeter City that made me join the club.”
“The biggest thing for me is that they were interested in me for a while and the way the club are. They are really good at developing players and getting the best out of them.
“Everyone always says great things about Exeter, they always say it’s a great club with great people.
“I can guarantee I will do absolutely everything for the club, for the manager and my team mates. I just love playing football and being out there winning and ultimately what I want to do is move up the leagues with Exeter City.
“I love to defend and get my head on it, blocking shots and crosses.
“I know all about this division and what it’s like. I’ve been relegated from it so I know how hard it can be. My goal is just to help get us promoted.
