Nottingham Forest have signed James Garner on loan from Manchester United ahead of Monday’s transfer deadline. The midfielder joins until the end of the season.

United Midfielder Links up With Nottingham Forest
James Garner has joined up with Nottingham Forest on loan after a temporary spell with Watford was cut short.
The 19-year-old was recalled from the Hornets having failed to establish himself within the first-team picture. Since December 19 the midfielder has played just 40 minutes of football.
He made 20 Championship appearances for Watford, but only 12 were league starts.
A change of management failed to provide greater opportunities at Vicarage Road, resulting in United recalling the midfielder.
He has now linked up with Watford’s Championship rivals, Nottingham Forest, until the end of the season.
Filip Krovinovic was signed on-loan from Benfica to bolster options in midfield as a number of key players sit out injured.
Harry Arter and Jack Colback remain injured; meanwhile, Ryan Yates was also forced off with a calf injury against Middlesbrough.
Another Loan Raises Selection Dilemma
EFL regulations say that a maximum of five loan players can be included within a matchday squad.
Garner’s loan arrival will take Forest’s selection of temporary players to six – with Anthony Knockaert (Fulham), Cyrus Christie (Fulham), Luke Freeman (Sheffield United), Cafu (Olympiacos) and Krovinovic (Benfica) all currently at the City Ground.
Chris Hughton has previously spoken of the desire to bring “one or two” more players to Forest – with Garner’s arrival confirmed, and Glenn Murray likely to be the other addition, it leaves Forest fans wondering which players will be left out.
Departures Likely as Well as Arrivals
One departure remains likely ahead of Monday’s deadline passing as academy forward Will Swan proves likely to head out on loan.
The young striker, who has made only a handful of cameo appearances this season, has been linked with a move to League One side Ipswich Town – according to the East Anglian Daily Times.
It would be the forward’s first taste of adult’s football since a loan spell with non-league side Truro City.
