Liverpool have officially completed a move for Schalke defender Ozan Kabak on loan with an option to buy according to Fabrizio Romano. The central defender arrives as the solution to Liverpool’s injury crisis at the back.
With several players out injured, Kabak could make his debut as soon as the game against Brighton & Hove Albion before preparing for perhaps the most important game of the season against Manchester City at Anfield.
His arrival comes just in time as the deadline approaches. Liverpool fans were crying out for a central defender. Now, they have one.
Liverpool Complete Kabak Deal
Kabak Was Part of a Struggling Schalke Side
At the age of 20, Ozan Kabak was thrown into the deep end of a Bundesliga relegation scrap. Despite this, the defender was the bright spark in an otherwise disappointing Schalke side- attracting interest from Liverpool as a result.
A move away from the threat of relegation will do his career a world of good as he looks to realise his increasing potential. At Anfield, he’ll undoubtedly get the opportunity to impress in the absence of Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Fabinho and Joel Matip.
It could be a season-defining one for Liverpool as they look to defend their Premier League title.
Liverpool Finally Secure Defender
Earlier reports linked them with a move for Ligue 1 defender Sven Botman, but, in the end, it was 20-year-old Ozan Kabak who secured a move to Anfield.
Liverpool had no choice but to secure a defender before the window slammed shut with no first-team central defenders available with Matip, van Dijk, Gomez and, even the makeshift defender, Fabinho, all out injured.
The arrival of Kabak will be a welcome one by fans, Jurgen Klopp and everyone associated with Liverpool as they look to defend their Premier League title. The signing should add balance to the team once more.
