Scunthorpe United have officially completed the signing of George Taft from Bolton Wanderers on a free transfer. The defender has put pen to paper on a two-and-a-half-year deal following a loan spell at the club.
Taft has so far made five appearances at the club in which he kept three clean sheets in the space of a week as Scunthorpe secured all three points in all three games.
The 27-year-old’s impact on loan was clear for all to see. Now, joining permanently, Taft’s influence can grow as can the ability within the Scunthorpe team.

Scunthorpe Looking to Move up the Table
As things stand in League Two, Scunthorpe sit in the comforts of mid-table in a relatively uneventful season. And, whilst Scunthorpe will be happy with a mid-table finish, they’ll also want to be aiming higher in the second half of the season.
The main focus should be on avoiding relegation, but, considering they are only four points away from the top half, Scunthorpe could aim for a top ten finish.
With Taft secured on a permanent basis, the future looks far more promising. As proven by his time on loan, Taft has the talent in abundance to lead the Scunthorpe backline.
Taft Shares Delight at Move
Speaking to the club’s official website, Taft said: “It’s amazing and I’m so happy to get it done.
“I’ve not been here that long, but it is good to make it a permanent move. I came in quite quickly and there was meant to be a game that weekend, but I got a bit of time with the lads and it’s a great group. They made me very welcome, so it has been easy to settle in.
“It’s been over the last week or so, and it’s just been the usual process of getting Bolton, Scunthorpe and myself to agree on terms, which we did.”
