A 2-0 home defeat to Reading has seen Bristol City sack head coach Dean Holden as the club fell to 13th place in the Championship.

Dean Holden Sacked After Six Months
Bristol City lost at home to Reading on Tuesday night (February 16, 2021) and Holden was not to be seen for the post-match press conference. Later that night, it was confirmed, Holden, who took over from Lee Johnson just over six months ago, had been relieved of his duties.

Following six defeats in a row for Bristol City, the board have decided that they needed to make a change stating on their official website: “Dean Holden has been relieved of his duties with immediate effect.”
The brief statement added: “Following a sixth successive defeat, the Bristol City board have decided that a change of head coach is necessary. Assistant head coaches Paul Simpson and Keith Downing will take charge of training until further notice.”
Holden’s side had failed to score in any of their last four games.
Watford Thrashing Made Decision Inevitable
Bristol City had started the season well and were looking to challenge for a play-off place, having been placed within the top six but results started to dip and things were eventually compounded by a poor performance and 6-0 defeat to Watford at Vicarage Road on Saturday, February 13.
Holden looked a downcast and dejected figure after that game saying it was ”a horrible day for everyone connected with Bristol City football club.”
Next Manager
The club have said they will make no further comment at this stage as they now look to replace Holden and ensure that a promising campaign does not end up in a relegation dog fight.
