Amid links with Tottenham and England captain Harry Kane, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Manchester United do not want to sign a new striker this summer.

Kane Transfer to Manchester United ‘Unlikely’ to Happen this Summer
Manchester United had been interested in the developments around the Harry Kane situation at Tottenham until Edinson Cavani decided to stay at the club by signing a one-year contract extension.
Sky Sports reported that Manchester United were one of the clubs to contact Kane’s representatives about a potential transfer this summer. This contact was before Cavani decided to stay at Old Trafford for another season.
Romano confirmed the news on the ‘Here We Go Podcast’, saying: “Before Cavani signed a new contract, Manchester United wanted to check the situation of Kane and knew about his desire to leave Tottenham. But now with Cavani signing a new contract, it is not easy to sign a new top striker like Kane.”
According to The Guardian, Kane has made it clear to Tottenham that he would like to leave this summer before the start of Euro 2020. The Tottenham board are ‘furious’ with the timing of the news, and regard selling Kane before the beginning of the tournament as ‘impossible’.
Kane Will Have Other Suitors
Kane has enjoyed another phenomenal season at The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium which has seen him register 22 goals and 13 assists in 33 Premier League appearances. His form and ambition to join a club challenging for England and Europe’s major trophies have attracted interest from the Premier League’s richest clubs.
The Guardian has reported that Manchester City are interested in signing Kane this summer and plan to begin talks with Tottenham over a potential transfer soon. Chelsea are also interested in the striker, but Daniel Levy is reportedly resistant to negotiating with Tottenham’s London rivals.
Clubs abroad such as Paris Saint-Germain, managed by Kane’s former boss Mauricio Pochettino, are also likely to monitor development’s around Kane’s situation.
