Denmark find themselves in a group with one of the tournament favourites in Belgium but they have sprung a surprise before when winning this competition back in 1992 and with the squad they have, they could do well again in Euro 2020.
The team at Last Word on Football has put together this profile so you can get the complete rundown on the side before the tournament kicks off.
Everything You Need to Know About Denmark Ahead of Euro 2020
Who is the Denmark National Team Coach?
Kasper Hjulmand is the man currently at the helm for Denmark in the Euros this summer. He took charge of the side last year and was expected to take over after the tournament took place. Instead, he will now be leading the side into it this summer.
Although he has not really tested himself in any of Europe’s top leagues yet, he is seen as one of the most talented coaches in Denmark for a few years now. This comes largely down to his work at FC Nordsjaelland. He worked hard at the side and took them to the Danish top-flight title back in 2012 and it has made him a revered coach – so much so that he was rewarded by being handed the role of national team boss.
His work so far for Denmark has been superb, making the side play some attractive, free-flowing and attacking side. They are appealing to watch and they get the results too, having beaten England for example.
They lost to Belgium – who they will meet again in this group – but they should not be taken lightly under Hjulmand.
Who Has Been Selected For the Denmark Squad for Euro 2020?
They have a strong spine to the squad, with some decent talent in each area. Led by the formidable Kasper Schmeichel – who has been one of the best keepers in the Premier League for a few seasons now – they also have experienced European stars throughout their ranks.
Alongside this experience, they do have some promising prospects. Jonas Wind is an exciting watch in attack, while Brentford stars Mathias Jensen and Christian Norgaard will also be given the chance to shine on the big stage before finally taking on the Premier League next season.
Goalkeepers: Kasper Schmeichel (Leicester), Jonas Lössl (Midtjylland), Frederik Rønnow (Schalke)

Martin Braithwaite Leading the Line for Denmark Squad
Martin Braithwaite has had what can only be described as a wild career so far. Beginning at Toulouse in France, he then joined Middlesbrough in England and did not manage to have as much of an impact as he would have liked. It resulted in loan spells back to France with Bordeaux and then Leganes, the place he eventually made a permanent switch to.
In 2020, he secured a major move to Barcelona, where he has made 40 appearances so far.
For Denmark, he continues to be a mainstay in the side. He bagged most recently in their friendly win over Bosnia and Herzegovina and has made 50 appearances for the side.
He is experienced in European football and if anyone knows what it takes to help fire Denmark to victory, it might be that most unlikely of men in Martin Braithwaite who could help his side score the goals they need – whether himself or setting up his teammates – to go far.
Group Stage Fixtures
Denmark do not have the trickiest group in the tournament but nor is it too easy. They will face a familiar foe in Belgium, who are one of the best teams in the competition. They will also face Russia – who are always solid – and newboys Finland.
