Gareth Bale will not play a second season at Tottenham Hotspur, his agent Jonathan Barnett has confirmed.
The Welshman could still have another chance at Real Madrid under new boss Carlo Ancelotti.

Real Madrid boss Ancelotti has admitted his admiration for the player and welcomes him back to the club providing he shows his motivation to excel in La Liga once again.
Bale left on loan to Spurs after falling out of favour with Zinedine Zidane. His antics on the bench and on the golf course suggested he was not really taking his Real Madrid future seriously at all. Injuries had plagued him, along with the booing sections of the Madrid unfaithful.
At Spurs, Bale took some strong steps towards his former glory. Yes, he has lost a yard of pace but he is still capable of scoring goals, beating opponents and has a good eye for a pass.
At Euro 2020 Bale did his best to spur Wales on. Despite not grabbing himself a goal, Bale was again a talisman for his country. He turned playmaker for two vital goals against Turkey. Both were moments of inspiration for Aaron Ramsey and then Connor Roberts in the dying minutes. Instead of going to the corner flag, Bale twice attempted to hit the byline and make something happen. The second time it paid off, rewarding Bale for pushing on.
Bale Will Be Missed at Spurs
There is no doubt that Bale will be a great miss for Tottenham. It took him a while to get going, but when he eventually found fitness and form he was truly an asset in scoring goals and assists. His 11 goals and two assists in 20 Premier League appearances were impressive even within his limited role under Mourinho.
Sadly Gareth Bale’s second season at Spurs was not marked with any silverware. The Carabao Cup was the closest Bale came to a winning return in an otherwise disappointing campaign.
It would have been a big boost to get Bale back for another couple of seasons. The Welsh wizard has matured since his time in Spain, bringing with him a winning mentality that Spurs so evidently lack.
Finding a like for like replacement would be incredibly difficult. Bale’s reputation, accolades and ability to influence matches makes him a world-class player. At 31 years old he is slightly past his peak physically, but as his Spurs goal record shows he is still a very effective forward.
Bale formed a formidable front three with Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son, but Mourinho did not choose them often enough.
No move is set in stone. Bale will return to Real Madrid for now, but Levy would be a fool not to try to get him signed up for another year. The saga of finding a new manager will likely postpone any big money attempts to prise Bale away or bring in another star until the chairman and Paratici sit down with the new boss to begin a new vision for the club.
