Marco Silva Announced as New Fulham Manager

Marco Silva has been confirmed as the new manager of Fulham, signing a three-year contract with the West London club. The Portuguese succeeds Scott Parker, who left the club to take over at Bournemouth after failing to keep the Cottagers in the Premier League last season.

Silva’s appointment could also mean a return to Fulham for their former striker Luis Boa Morte, as he was part of Silva’s backroom team when he was in charge of Everton.

Silva ‘Proud’ to Take Fulham Job

Speaking to the club website about his appointment, Silva said: “I’m really pleased and proud to be appointed head coach of such a historic football club. I want to thank the owner, Mr Khan, Tony Khan and the entire football structure of Fulham Football Club, for the trust shown in us. I’m excited to get started and my message for our fans ahead of this big challenge is we will all be working very hard together to be successful so they can feel proud at the end of the season.”

Silva’s Career

Marco Silva has had numerous spells as a manager in England since his arrival in the country in 2017. However, he has been out of work since the end of 2019 when he was sacked by Everton.

His first job in England came with Hull City, and although he was unable to keep the side up in the top flight, he earned praise for how he managed to turn the team’s form around in such a short space of time.

This prompted Watford to take him on and here he achieved a 14th-place finish, largely down to the £11.1 million signing of Richarlison.

The Brazilian forward then followed Silva to Everton when he left just a year later.

Prior to his time in England, Silva also managed Estoril, Sporting Lisbon and Olympiacos.
