Brendan Rodgers Strengthening FA Cup Winners

The 2020/21 season was a rollercoaster ride for Leicester City and Brendan Rodgers as they won their second trophy in five years, capturing the FA Cup to add to their sensational 2016 Premier League title win.

There was also some heartache for the Midlands club as they spent most of the season in the top four only to miss out on qualification for the Champions League – instead having to settle for a place in the Europa League.

European football qualification is a great achievement for Leicester but it also means more games and Rodgers has started to add to his numbers with the signing of Soumare from Ligue 1 side Lille.

Transfer Fee

The fee for the player is believed to be around £21.5 million and the contract at the King Power will be five years, which will see him at the club until the end of the 2025/26 Premier League season.

Soumare will join the Foxes with his fellow countryman at Leicester, Wesley Fofana, who will help the young player settle into his new surroundings as Leicester look to challenge for the top four once again.

Soumare ‘Proud’ to Join

Speaking to the club website, Soumare said: “I’m really proud to come to the Premier League and a big club like Leicester. It’s going to really help me to develop my game and progress as a player, so I feel it is the right step for me.

“Leicester is a very ambitious club. When they spoke to me about their plans and what they wanted from me, I knew straight away I wanted to come. I really am so proud and honoured to be here and I will give my all for the team and club to make everyone happy.”
