Watford Complete Deals for Josh King and Peter Etebo

Etebo Joins on Loan

Nigerian international Etebo joined Stoke City from Portuguese Primeira Liga side Feirense in 2018. He made 37 appearances that season. The next season, Stoke started with a bad run of form, and after the mid-season arrival of new manager Michael O’Neill, Etebo was demoted to the bench. As a result, he moved to Getafe on loan for the second half of 2019/20. He spent last season on another loan at Galatasaray, making 29 appearances.

Newly promoted Premier League side Watford are strengthening their squad. Etebo joins the likes of Imran Louza, Emmanuel Dennis and Danny Rose. Etebo has 38 caps for Nigeria and is a box-to-box midfielder. His loan deal includes an option to buy at the end of the season.

King Secures Another Premier League Move

Joshua King is no stranger to the Premier League. A product of Manchester United’s academy, he went on three different loan deals before making a permanent switch to Championship side Blackburn Rovers. He did make his Premier League return in 2015, when newly promoted Bournemouth signed him. King, who netted 48 times across five seasons, is Bournemouth’s top scorer in the Premier League.

He joined Everton in January 2021 on a six-month contract, but failed to score in 11 appearances. He was released by the Merseyside club at the end of his contract. The forward has 54 caps for Norway, for whom he has scored 17 times. He had a great partnership with current Newcastle United striker Callum Wilson during their time together at Bournemouth.

Watford have handed King a two-contract as he becomes the eigth new arrival ahead of the season. They were relegated at the end of 2019/20, but have bounced right back. They are intending to stay, and the signings refelct that having just signed Josh King and Peter Etebo.
