According to Simon Collings of the Evening Standard, Arsenal are confident of an Emile Smith Rowe contract renewal. The news will come as a relief for Arsenal fans after interest from Aston Villa emerged. It seems the midfielder is destined to put pen to paper on a new deal, however, and help the Gunners rebuild under Mikel Arteta.
The new deal will help Arsenal shift their focus onto new arrivals ahead of the new Premier League season in August. So far, the Gunners have signed fullback Nuno Tavares from Benfica whilst a deal for Albert Sambi Lokonga is reportedly close. Neither signing is relatively big, but in regards to the Arsenal squad, they will offer improvements.
Arsenal Confident of New Emile Smith Rowe Contract
Crucial for the Present and Future
Looking at the current Arsenal squad, it is hard to find many positives apart from the successful academy graduates littered round the Emirates. The experienced stars are often the ones found wanting whilst the graduates attempt to save the sinking ship. And that’s what probably keeps the fans believing; the sight of Smith Rowe and Bukayo Saka performing on a consistent basis likely acts as a beacon of light for Arsenal’s European hope.
Saka’s talent has been clear for a while now, but Emile Smith Rowe, who is set for a contract renewal, burst onto the scene around Christmas time, scoring against Chelsea and West Bromwich Albion. Even as Martin Odegaard arrived on loan, the young midfielder didn’t looked phased. He simply carried on, not worried for a single second that he could lose his place at any time.
As a result of his ability combined with his clear belief in himself, Smith Rowe kept his place in the Arsenal side and is now set for a full season in the Gunners midfield.
