Di’Shon Bernard Moves to Hull City on Loan
Hull City have officially signed Di’Shon Bernard on a season-long loan deal from Manchester United. The Tigers were keen to add a centre back during this transfer window to bolster their defensive options.
Bernard spent the last season on loan in League Two with Salford City. The defender made 25 appearances for the Ammies as they finished eighth in League Two. The 20-year-old has also featured in both of Manchester United’s pre-season matches.
What Was Said
Talking to the club’s website, Bernard said: “It’s going to be a big step up for me. Being in League Two with Salford last season was a good experience for me playing against some big strikers and grown men, whereas the Championship will test me both in that way and in terms of technical ability as well.
“I’m sure it will be good for me and hopefully I can do well. I’m really excited to be joining Hull City and hopefully, it can be a very exciting season for us.
“I feel that I’ve joined a big club with it having been in the Premier League in recent years and hopefully I can try and help to push us back towards that kind of level.
“I can use somebody like Harry Maguire as an inspiration. He is somebody who has shown that you aren’t always going to go from the Academy straight into the first team. Sometimes you’ll go out on loan, play games at different levels and develop that way
Bernard Signs New Five-Year Deal
Prior to his move to Hull, Manchester United officially announced the contract extension of their promising defender Di’Shon Bernard. The defender signed a five-year deal with the club, that could see Di’Shon remain at Old Trafford until he is 25-years-old.
Bernard joined Manchester United as a 16-year-old from Chelsea in 2017. He made his first-team debut in the Europa League clash with Astana in 2019.
