Inter Want to Keep Forward
Talks for Lautaro Martinez between Tottenham Hotspur and Inter Milan reportedly began “days ago”. This comes just weeks after arch-rivals Arsenal expressed their interest in the player.
Spurs manager Nuno Espirito Santo has a preference to play two forwards. However, it appears as if Kane’s future is uncertain at the club at this point.
Cash-strapped Inter are currently having a summer clear-out. Romelu Lukaku has been reported to be heading back to Chelsea. Now it would appear as if his strike partner Martinez could be following suit to the Premier League.
Martinez has made 100 Serie A appearances for Inter, scoring 37 goals. Last season was his most prolific campaign to date, netting 17 times, as Inter won their first Serie A title for 11 years.
However, dark days have loomed over the Serie A champions, as they are in serious financial trouble, ultimately leading to a clearout of their title-winning squad.
As for Spurs, they have been in a rollercoaster situation with striker Harry Kane. Reportedly expressing his desire to leave the club earlier this summer, the England international has been heavily linked with Manchester City.
The Premier League’s top scorer last season also missed training this past week, before returning to Hotspur Way to complete five days of self-isolation, while privately training.
A complicated situation has left the fans with many unanswered questions. But with Martinez’s links to Spurs and Santo’s desire to play two up top, it appears as if the club have no desire to let Kane leave this season.
While a fee has reportedly been agreed for Martinez, it has also been said that there is some way to go until the deal is complete.
