Chelsea have completed the signing of star forward Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan. The signing of Lukaku for a reported £97.5 million represents the most expensive transfer in history for the London-based side. The previous record was the £72 million that the club paid last season for Kai Havertz
With the move official, Lukaku now makes his return to Stamford Bridge just over seven years after he first departed Chelsea for Everton.

Lukaku has re-joins Chelsea after a stellar tenure in Italy with Inter Milan. Spending the last two seasons in Milan, the Belgium international recorded a whopping 64 goals in just 98 appearances. Included in this total are the 13 goals Lukaku scored between both the UEFA Champions League and the Europa League.
These performances clearly breathed new life into the 28-year-old’s career. Prior to his run with Inter, Lukaku suffered through a rough two-year run at Manchester United. While the striker managed to record 42 goals during his time with the Red Devils, Lukaku departed the club during the summer of 2019 as a major disappointment.
Costing United £90 million when he was signed from Everton during the summer of 2017, Lukaku was sold to the Italian giants just two years later for £16 million less. Prior to his time at United, Lukaku was seen as one of the Premier League’s best centre-forwards. Spending four seasons at Everton, Lukaku scored 87 times in 166 appearances.
This all follows the Belgian’s original stint at Chelsea. Making just 15 appearances during his first run with the Blues, Lukaku now has a second chance to impress. However, this stint also brings with it a tonne of pressure for Lukaku. Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel made the Belgian international a priority signing, after all.
Should the Blues receive the Lukaku who dominated with Inter Milan, this signing may go down as a coup despite the high price involved. However, should Lukaku struggle to again adapt to the English game, Tuchel may find himself quickly out of a job.
