Manchester United have agreed to an Andreas Pereira loan deal with Brazilian side Flamengo, according to Fabrizio Romano.
This will be a second consecutive season out on loan for Pereira, who spent the 2020/21 campaign in Serie A with Lazio. He has previously had spells with Granada and Valencia.
Manchester United will pay part of Andreas Pereira’s salary as part of the deal to allow Flamengo to sign him.
Andreas Pereira Loan Move Agreed With Flamengo
Andreas Pereira Loan Gives Him Opportunity to Shine in Brazil
Manchester United midfielder Andreas Pereira will play in the country he represents at international level this season. Pereira hasn’t featured for Brazil at senior level since his debut in September 2018 – which was given to him by current coach, Tite.
Playing for the Red Devils would usually be enough to get the attention of his international manager, however, Pereira has never really been a mainstay in the starting 11 at the club.
His loan to Lazio last season was almost reflective of his role at Old Trafford and was never going to interest Tite.
However, joining Flamengo gives him the platform to shine in his own country, feature more regularly and become a real option for his international coach. That said, Brazil’s squad is full of talent and he is competing with some of the best players in the world.
Good Old Trafford Send-off
Two consecutive loans away from the club suggest Andreas Pereira is not a part of manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer‘s plans.
Pereira scored a beautiful goal v Brentford at the Theatre of Dreams in pre-season – an unforgettable strike – something he is no stranger to. He showed that when scoring a free-kick on his third appearance for United, in the EFL Cup v Ipswich Town.
The 25-year-old is still a good midfielder and can have a good career away from the club should he eventually leave permanently.
Pereira has scored four goals in 75 appearances at Manchester United having been one of the most promising academy talents at one stage – scoring ten goals in 47 appearances for the u23s.
He made five starts for Lazio in 2020/21 but did manage to feature in 33 games for the club.
Flamengo Interest in Kenedy
With a deal for Andreas Pereira reportedly complete, the Brazilian side are also looking at another Premier League talent in Chelsea‘s Kenedy.
Fabrizio Romano reports that they are closing in on the Brazilian winger’s signature.
Kenedy spent last season on loan in Spain with Granada and has had previous spells with Watford, Newcastle United and Getafe.
It’s not mentioned as to whether it will be another loan move or permanent transfer for the 25-year-old.
