The Hornets Continue Summer Spending Spree
Ozan Tufan is the latest player to move to Vicarage Road this summer. The Turkish international is the tenth new player to join Watford this season. Tufan will also be the first Turkish player to play for the Hornets in their history when he makes his debut for the club.
The midfielder joins Watford after playing his entire career in Turkey. A product of the Bursaspor Youth Academy, Tufan made his debut with the senior team in 2012. The midfielder spent three seasons with the club before joining Fenerbahce in 2015.
In his first three seasons, Tufan struggled to secure a regular starting spot in the Fenerbahce lineup, but the tide turned in favour of the midfielder following his loan spell with Alanyaspor during the 2018/19 season. Tufan became a regular starter for Fenerbahce the following season.
The Turkish midfielder has been an integral part of the Fenerbahce lineup over the last two seasons. In six seasons with the club, Tufan has made 174 appearances and scored 21 times for the Turkish giants. He was also a part of Fenerbahce’s season opener against Adana Demirspor.
What Will Tufan Bring to Watford?
Tufan arrives with plenty of experience under his belt. The midfielder is an established international and has made 63 appearances for the national side in seven years since making his debut in 2014.
Tufan is known for winning possession and preventing opposition attacks but is also capable of playing further up the pitch. Apart from that, he also provides versatility to the squad and is also capable of filling in as a centre-back, right-back and on the wing.
The midfielder also provides another attacking threat for the Hornets. Tufan had six goals and ten assists for Fenerbahce last season. The midfielder has a wicked long-ranger, making him a threat from outside the box.
