Carter-Vickers, 23, makes the move to Celtic Park in a bid to gain consistent minutes this season, which currently appear to be unavailable able under Nuno Espirito Santo at Spurs. The move to Scotland will now act as the seventh in his career since 2017.

The centre-back spent last season on loan at Bournemouth and played a key role in helping the side reach the Championship play-offs. Ultimately, he couldn’t get the Cherries over the line in their promotion push as they fell short in the semi-finals to eventual winners Brentford.

But Carter-Vickers now has a fresh challenge on his hands, beating the transfer deadline in Scotland with a matter of minutes to go to sign with Ange Postecoglou’s Celtic.

A statement on the club’s website confirmed the deal as a loan for the season, but includes a clause to make the deal permanent at the conclusion of the campaign.

Should things go well in Scotland, this could lead to a permanent, more secure role for regular game time.

What Was Said?

Speaking to the club’s official website, Carter-Vickers said: “I am absolutely delighted to agree this move to Celtic, it is a really exciting opportunity for me and I am desperate to meet my new team-mates and get going for the season ahead.

“I know I am going to a huge Club which means so much to so many people and I will be doing all I can to bring our fans the success which their support deserves.”
