According to Matt Law of the Telegraph, Tottenham Hotspur are considering sacking new manager Nuno Espirito Santo just ten games into the season.
The Spurs hierarchy discussed his future yesterday, with chairman Daniel Levy said to be furious after his side’s 3-0 collapse to Manchester United on Saturday. Sources close to the club believe that it is only a matter of time before Nuno is sacked, with an immediate decision still not ruled out.
The Portuguese boss was in charge of Wolverhampton Wanderers between 2017 and 2021, leading them to a miraculous promotion to the Premier League in the 2017/18 season and an impressive run in the top flight of English football. Last season, however, his side underperformed, and it was agreed mutually between Nuno and the West Midlands club that they would part ways at the campaign’s conclusion.
With the 47-year-old unemployed during the summer, and Tottenham frantically looking for a manager who would join them, the two parties united on June 30, 2021.

Spurs are in a patch of shocking form at the moment.
They have lost three of their last four matches in all competitions, sitting eighth in the Premier League and already ten points off league-leaders Chelsea after just ten matches. Further, Tottenham are currently third in their Uefa Conference League group, behind French club Rennes and Vitesse of the Netherlands. Already being halfway into the group stage, this could foreshadow a disastrous European exit for the North London side, with the calamity emphasised by the fact that the other three teams in the group average 170th in UEFA’s club coefficients, whereas Tottenham are 13th.
What makes matters worse, though, is how dreadful Tottenham’s performances have been. They have failed to register a single shot on target in the last 2 hours and 16 minutes of Premier League football, and have not kept a clean sheet in the league since the end of August.
Nuno’s situation massively deteriorated after his side’s latest game, however: a 3-0 loss to out-of-form Manchester United. In a game that was dubbed “El Sackico” with both managers coming into it under intense pressure, it was Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who emphatically prevailed. During this game, the Spurs boss was repeatedly booed, and was subject to chants of “you don’t know what you’re doing”. It’s fair to say that many in the fanbase have already lost faith in Nuno despite how new he is.
When asked about this, the former Wolves and Porto manager said: “I am only thinking about the next game and the next training session. There are not words that will solve the situation. “When they [the fans] don’t see the team play the way they expect they are going to boo. I believe the players are better than that and it’s up to us to change the mood.
“I think we are better than what we showed today … I believe we have the talent to do it. When things don’t work out the confidence is what goes away. We have to regain it by actions.”
