Short-Term Contract for Steve Morison
Morison has signed a deal until the end of the season. He replaces Mick McCarthy with the club sat in 20th place in the Championship. Cardiff are currently three points clear of the relegation zone and 11 points below the play-off places.
Still early days in the season, Morison has ample time to turn their fortunes around but will have to if he is to last longer than the remainder of the 2021/22 season.
The Bluebirds were relegated from the Premier League in 2018/19 and have struggled in their attempts to bounce back, which is no doubt where their ambitions lie.
Morison is the fourth manager to take charge at the Cardiff City season over the last three seasons after Neil Warnock, Neil Harris and Mick McCarthy.
He will be assisted by Tom Ramasut with Mark Hudson returning to the club as first team coach.
What Tan Sri Vincent Tan Said
Tan Sri Vincent Tan, owner of Cardiff City, told cardiffcity.co.uk: “I have been encouraged by the team’s improved performance over the past three games, with the adoption of a more attractive and progressive style of football.
“What’s more, I think that the excellent work done by Steve and Tom at U23 level this season puts them in the very best position to help develop a talented crop of young players emerging at senior level. I’m also very pleased that Mark is returning to the club as part of the coaching setup.
“A healthy finish in the Championship this season is, of course, of paramount importance. A review of the side’s progress will be undertaken at the end of the campaign.”
