Spurs Confident Hugo Lloris Will Sign Contract Extension
Lloris Contract Extension Talks Ongoing
Signing from Ligue 1 club Lyon in 2012, Hugo Lloris has become part of the furniture at Spurs. Making over 300 appearances and keeping over 100 clean sheets in the Premier League. It is fair to say that Lloris has established himself as a firm fan favourite.
Assuming the captain’s armband at the start of the 2015/16 season, the 35 year-0ld has led by example between the sticks. From playing under Andre Vilas Boas to playing in UEFA Champions League final under Mauricio Pochettino.
However, with his current contract coming to an end, there has been speculation about his future. Nonetheless, it appears as if manager Antonio Conte wants him to stay at the club.
Performances Under Conte Underline His Value
Since Antonio Conte’s arrival, Spurs have gone seven games unbeaten in the Premier League. A run that now stretches to eight games. Conceding only four goals in that time, Hugo Lloris has put in some excellent displays.
Most recently against Watford in Spurs’ 1-0 win at Vicarage Road, the skipper led by example. Joshua King’s curling effort was superbly denied by the Frenchman. A save which arguably helped Spurs go on and win the match.
Now with the second half of the season here, more performances like the one against Watford could prove to be vital for Spurs. As their hunt for a place in the UEFA Champions League ramps up, more world-class displays from the skipper would be welcome.
Despite having some questionable moments over the years, there is no doubting Lloris’ ability. A World Cup winner and proven world-class goalkeeper, who has saved his points on countless occasions since his arrival in north London.
