Juventus Transfer News: One Set for Departure but Another to Stay Despite Interest
Allegri Comments on Duo’s Future After Speculation From Other Clubs
Massimiliano Allegri confirmed that Spanish striker Alvaro Morata would remain at the club during the January transfer window. The 29-year-old has been playing for The Old Lady since September 2020, after he joined on loan from Atletico Madrid. His loan currently lasts until June 2022 where Juventus have the option to purchase the player for €35 million. The striker is currently enduring his second spell at the Turin-based club, after spending two years there between 2014 and 2016.
In his two stints at the club, he scored 31 goals in 114 games. Morata was heavily linked to Barcelona in the past few weeks, who are looking to replace Sergio Aguero following his sudden retirement. The Juventus manager stated that he had conversations with the striker to confirm his stay in Italy.
“Álvaro Morata stays here. He’s not leaving in January. I had a face-to-face meeting with Álvaro & told him: you’re 100 per cent staying” as per Fabrizio Romano.
Previous reports suggested that Morata would be allowed to leave if Juventus could sign a replacement, however, Allegri’s comments denied this. It was also confirmed that a potential deal for Mauro Icardi has not yet been discussed and is far from advanced. Fabrizio Romano has further confirmed that Juventus’ main priority remains a ‘top young striker in June’.
Aaron Ramsey Set to Leave Juventus in Next Few Weeks
Massimiliano Allegri further mentioned that midfielder Aaron Ramsey would leave the club in January. The Italian was quoted saying “Aaron Ramsey’s now set to leave Juventus. We’re working on it. There are no other changes/transfers in our plans, this is 99 per cent sure.”
Ramsey was linked to multiple clubs over the previous weeks, including Saudi-owned Newcastle United, who are set to go on a spending spree in January.
Aaron Ramsey has been in Turin since 2019 and is reportedly the highest-earning British player ever on over £400,000 a week. In that time, he has made just under 50 appearances for the club and scored five goals. At the age of 31, Ramsey will be hoping to secure a final ‘big’ contract before his retirement. His career at Juventus will be remembered as a stagnating one due to his failure to make an impact on the pitch.
A potential return to the Premier League will allow the Welshman to rediscover his form that earned him a move in 2019. Ramsey was an integral part of Arsenal‘s team prior to Juventus and attracted attention from top clubs around Europe. According to sources, a return to Arsenal has not been suggested however Aston Villa, Everton and Newcastle have all shown interest in the midfielder.
