Manchester United are becoming increasingly interested in a John McGinn transfer, with the Scottsman representing a way that the Red Devils could bolster their midfield, according to James Ducker of The Telegraph.

A Good Player for Aston Villa, but Not Necessarily a Great One
The Aston Villa man has been a picture of consistency since his move to Birmingham in the summer of 2018. McGinn had previously played for Scottish side Hibernian where he accumulated 46 direct goal involvements in 136 games while also winning the Scottish Cup.
During his time at Villa Park, the 27-year-old has proven his worth, remaining a starter as the Villans became an established Premier League team.
His performances have seemingly garnered the biggest of interest, with Manchester United now reportedly lining up a move for him in an attempt to fill the gaping hole in their midfield.
The central area of the pitch has proven a massive issue for the Red Devils so far this campaign. First-choice duo Scott McTominay and Fred have not performed at the required standard to help United to the title charge that was expected of them at the beginning of the season, and the Manchester side are currently in seventh after some shocking performances both before and after the departure of club legend and previous manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Against McGinn’s Aston Villa on Saturday, this weakness in United’s team was perfectly illustrated in the build-up to their opponents’ first goal, where centre-back Tyrone Mings managed to dribble his way through the Red Devils’ midfield while Ralf Rangnick watched on, bewildered.
Villa, and almost all other sides who face United, are able to exploit this weakness frequently, and it has resulted in an extremely underwhelming season so far for them.
Despite the issues that are opening up in the squad, Rangnick will still want to prioritise the signing of a central midfielder. Whether the club backs him in the transfer market is an entirely different story.
