The break down in talks between Ousmane Dembele and Barcelona has been another well-documented case of free-flowing downfall at the Catalan club. And the situation just seems to get worse, with the player’s agent the latest to speak out, telling RMC: “Barça are losing Dembélé on their own. They cannot use the threat that Dembélé will spend six months without playing if he does not renew now. It’s a kind of pressure that doesn’t work against people like us and me.”
Barcelona Are Losing Ousmane Dembele on Their Own”, Says Frenchman’s Agent
Another Calamity at Barcelona
All seemed to be on track for Ousmane Dembele and Barcelona regarding a new contract a few months ago. Then talks around money began to ramp up, and the Spanish giants realised just how much the winger was demanding. Such is their recent financial disarray, too, they simply cannot afford to make further mistakes with the books.
Yet, at the same time, what would Dembele have been thinking when Ferran Torres strolled through the Nou Camp doors? If the club could afford another, top quality player, then why couldn’t they afford to keep him, and accept his demands?
As the months go by, the situation will simply grow more and more intriguing. At his best, Dembele is one of the most talented wingers in the world. But we rarely see the Frenchman at his best unfortunately. And, every time we do, injury soon beckons.
Wherever his future lies, if Dembele can stay fit, he will realise just how much potential he has to be one of the best around. To get one of the best around for free, too, would represent incredible business for any club. As things stand, free – when it comes to transfer fees – is exactly what he’ll be this summer window.
