Sunderland have confirmed the loan signing of Tottenham Hotspur winger Jack Clarke until the end of the season.
This will be Clarke’s fourth loan spell away from Spurs since joining from Leeds United in 2019. He returned to Leeds temporarily before a spell with Queens Park Rangers and most recently sported Stoke City colours in the second half of last season.

Spurs Winger Joins Sunderland’s Promotion Push
Sunderland are second in League One, pushing for promotion to the Championship. They’re taking advantage of the January window to help ensure they finally return to the second tier. They signed Patrick Roberts from Manchester City days ago and now it’s the turn of former Leeds prospect Jack Clarke.
Clarke carries considerable potential but is no stranger to a loan spell having made just four Tottenham appearances.
So far this season he has represented Spurs in Premier League 2 for their Under 23s. He has contributed to seven goals (three goals, four assists) in the Premier League’s developmental league.
He also scored one and assisted one in three appearances for the Under 21s in the Papa John’s Trophy, where the opposition is more similar to that he will face with Sunderland.
Clarke’s loans have come in the Championship. He has scored two goals and assisted four in his 43 appearances, including his time with Leeds, in the league to date.
Sunderland will be hoping he thrives when they unleash him in League One.

Clarke told safc.com: “I can’t wait to get started. I’m from this part of the world, so I know this is a massive club and what it means to the fans. I’m looking forward to playing at the Stadium of Light and the prospect of being part of the team that takes the club back to the Championship. I want to help the team as much as possible, whether that’s goals or assists, and ensure we can reach that end goal.”
Head coach Lee Johnson added: “Jack is a talented player and having followed his progress over the past few years, I feel like he’s really grown on the pitch throughout the past six months and found a maturity to pair with that talent. The competition for places in our final third is strong and we want to be able to change games as we move into the back end of the season. Jack understands that this is a big club with a lot to play for, but he wants to be an influential player for us and help to ensure we have a successful end to the season.”
