Chambers Exited to be at Aston Villa

Speaking after he was announced as Aston Villa’s newest signing, Calum Chambers spoke of his excitement at joining the club. He told the official website of Aston Villa: “It’s a massive club and they’re in a great moment at this moment in time.

“It’s a very exciting place to be and everyone can see that from the outside. Things are happening here and it’s definitely moving in the right direction. For me, it was a no-brainer to join a great club. It was the right thing for me to do.

“It’s a great club, it’s a massive club. I’ve played at Villa Park a few times and it’s a great stadium with a great set of fans. The manager did very well at Rangers. He’s a young, exciting manager and I can’t wait to work with him.”

Chambers Leaves Arsenal After Almost Eight Years

Calum Chambers spent almost eight years in London with Arsenal. He signed as a 19-year-old for an undisclosed fee that had the potential to rise to £16 million in 2014 after impressing at Southampton as a teenager. He would go on to play 122 games for the Gunners in all competitions, winning the Community Shield in 2014 and the FA Cup in 2015. The central defender, who can also play at full-back and as a defensive midfielder, would also become a full England international while at the club.

However, as game time was not guaranteed, Chambers was sent out on loan twice. Firstly to Middlesbrough and then to Fulham where his performances would earn him their Player of the Season award.
