Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele is no longer wanted at the Nou Camp and that has attracted attention from around Europe. Despite constant rumours, though, Fabrizio Romano has reported that Manchester United are not one of the clubs interested in Dembele. This comes even though the Red Devils have a slight shortage of options in attack after having let the likes of Anthony Martial and Amad Diallo leave on loan while Jesse Lingard reportedly wants to leave Old Trafford before Monday’s transfer deadline and Mason Greenwood may not be available again after serious criminal allegations having been made against him.

Clubs will try again in the coming hours but Dembélé deal on Deadline Day seems still complicated.

Manchester United Interested but No Talks
There have been some reports that United had already made a move for Dembele but Romano has quashed those rumours confirming that neither a bid nor talks have taken place for the winger with the Red Devils not even interested. It was journalist Pedro Almeida who had reported that Barcelona had received a bid of €20 million for Dembele but that has now been proved to be wide of the mark. If that bid had been made it would be a startling reduction in the price Barcelona paid for the player in 2017.
Dembele arrived at the Nou Camp in 2017 from Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund for a reported £126 million and although he is now into the final six months of his contract at Barcelona, they are unlikely to accept offers as low as the suggested €20 million.
Injuries
Dembele has suffered numerous injuries in his career so whether he would be a worthwhile signing for United is open to debate. There can be no doubt of his immense talent but with United at a point where they need to strengthen and have fully fit players at the ready, the last thing they need to do is to bring in a fallen star who is known to be unreliable, temperamental and injury-prone.
