Neco Williams Completes Fulham Loan Move

Neco Williams

According to Peter Rutzler of The Athletic, Fulham have completed a loan deal for Liverpool fullback Neco Williams. The defender looked unlikely to make a move at the start of the day, but has now reportedly made a late loan switch to Fulham.

Needs Game Time

Being a right-back at Liverpool right now – or in the next five years, for that matter – if your name is not Trent Alexander-Arnold is a tall order, and something Neco Williams knows about all too well. It is impossible to compete with what is the best right-back in world football. The only way Williams will improve is with a move away, albeit only a brief one.

When given opportunities this season, the Welshman has impressed. It’s clear that, compared to last season, he has improved. But, now, he will want to go up another level or two. The Fulham move could ensure that.

The fullback may even pick up a league title before joining up with the Liverpool squad again in the summer. Fulham currently sit top of the Championship, five points above second-placed Blackburn Roves.

The Cottagers have looked far and away the best side in the league this season. They look destined for the Premier League. And Neco Williams’ arrival will only enhance their chances of a convincing promotional campaign.

At Fulham, Williams will link up with what could one day be a Liverpool teammate in Fabio Carvalho. The deal to take the teenager to Anfield fell through at the last minute, but looks likely to edge towards completion as his contract continues to run down. Williams has the chance to get to know the player first-hand this season.
