Manchester United Midfielder Paul Pogba Close to Re-Joining Juventus
Juventus Looking to Strengthen
Pogba joined Manchester United for a then-record of around £89 million but now looks set to re-join his former club Juventus on a free transfer once his contract at Old Trafford expires in the summer.
The midfielder enjoyed a successful spell when last in Italy, making 178 appearances across all competitions in four seasons for the Italian giants since arriving on a free transfer from Manchester United in 2012. In those four seasons, Pogba scored 34 goals and chipped in with 40 assists, helping Juventus claim four consecutive Serie A titles.
The Old Lady are looking to strengthen their squad after a second consecutive season of missing out on winning Serie A. Juventus finished fourth in the league for the second season in a row despite dominating the league previously with nine consecutive Scudetto’s between the 2010/11 season and the 2019/20 season.
Forward Paulo Dybala and club legend and centre back Giorgio Chielinni both look to be leaving the Turin club when their contracts expire this summer. Former Manchester United winger, Angel Di Maria, is reportedly set to join Juventus on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain.
Interest in Pogba is High
Manchester United rivals, Manchester City, were reportedly interested in Pogba, however, the player has ruled out a move across town due to the expected backlash from fans.
French giants, Paris Saint-Germain, are also reported to be interested in the midfielder, offering the France international the chance to play in his home country. PSG would also likely be able to offer Pogba a significant wage increase, as well as the prospect of playing alongside Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi and Neymar.
