West Ham United have completed the signing of Moroccan defender Nayef Aguerd. The 26-year-old joins the Hammers on a five-year contract from Ligue 1 side Rennes for a reported fee of £30 million plus add-ons.

‘Dream’ Premier League Move
On his move to the Hammers, Aguerd said: “When I heard about it, I knew I needed to go to the Premier League because it’s a dream for every player.
“West Ham is a historic club. I saw a few of their games this year, and I saw the fans and the atmosphere were fantastic, with the bubbles!
“I talked with the manager and he showed me that he was very interested, so it was easy to choose to come to West Ham.”
Hammers boss David Moyes added: “I am delighted to welcome Nayef to West Ham United. We have tracked his progress for some time and I’m very pleased that we have been able to complete the signing. He’s a great addition that will add to our defensive options.
“I have been really impressed with Nayef’s character and attitude during our discussions. He has a great desire to improve and be successful, and I am sure he will fit in very well to the environment we have at Rush Green.”
Career So Far
Aguerd began his career in his native Morocco with FUS Rabat, where he made over 100 appearances between 2014 and 2018.
He then moved to France, joining Dijon for two years before switching to Rennes, where he appeared over 60 times.
Internationally, he has featured 25 times and scored his only goal in a 2-0 win against Sudan last year.
He also comes from a footballing family, with his father playing in the top flight in Morocco and his uncle, Abdelmajid Bouyboud, being capped 34 times for his country and playing at the 1994 World Cup.
