Tottenham Hotspur Fail to Find Agreement With Middlesbrough for Djed Spence
Spurs Failing to Meet the Right Valuation for Spence
The officials from both Spurs and Middlesbrough recently met to talk about the possibility of the Djed Spence transfer. However, they failed to find any agreement due to contrasting opinions from both sides as to how much the true value of the young right-back is.
Spurs believe that paying around £10 million should be enough for them to sign the England U21 international. However, Middlesbrough are insistent to get at least £15 million plus performance-related bonuses for a deal to go through. The Lilywhites’ representatives scoffed at that and did not want to proceed with talks beyond that.

Antonio Conte’s side are quite eager to sign Spence after watching his impressive performances on loan at Nottingham Forest, helping them get promoted to the Premier League. The young right-back is himself also eager to join them and play in the Premier League next season but is still waiting for the two sides to strike an agreement.
Antonio Conte’s Other Right-Back Targets Revealed
The Lilywhites are ready to seek alternatives to Spence if unable to dish out a deal with the Championship side for his services. Spurs are also tracking the development of RC Lens wing-back Jonathan Clauss, who scored five goals and registered 11 assists for them in Ligue 1 last season.
#Spurs, of course, have other options they can look at. Interestingly, one of those is the 29yo Jonathan Clauss at #Lens. He was statistically the best performing full-back in France last season acc. to @Wyscout https://t.co/mnJX18J0Hc #thfc pic.twitter.com/NT6KJFGCz3

Another possible option being considered by Spurs is Torino defender Wilfried Singo, who scored three goals and registered four assists in 35 Serie A appearances last season.

Conte wants to sign an efficient right-back who can play as a right wing-back in his system at Spurs. He isn’t pleased with Emerson Royal or Matt Doherty as his main options in that position and is seeking a right-back who is defensively strong but can also set up more goals next season.
Spurs are currently in the process of looking to sign other players as well, but strengthening the right-back position seems to be a priority before the start of the new season.
