Spurs Eyeing Striker as Competition for Harry Kane

Spurs realise that they can sign Sasa Kalajdzic for just £6 million in the summer after his value dipped due to injuries last season. Irrespective of that, Kalajdzic is a menacing centre-forward who uses his towering 6’7″ height and physicality to torment defenders.

He scored six goals in 15 Bundesliga appearances last season and netted 15 goals in the campaign before that. He has a pretty solid record with Stuttgart, having scored 24 goals and registered nine assists in 57 appearances.

With Harry Kane in need of rotating due to the risk of injuries, Conte wants another prolific goal-scorer who can be a nice fit for his team. Even though Spurs are currently looking to strengthen other areas of the squad, signing a centre-forward is also on their to-do list.

Despite his size, the 24-year-old striker is not just one to pounce on high crosses for headers. He is impressive with his hold-up play as well as swift with coming deep, moving the ball around nicely and getting into the right positions to cause trouble.

Comparisons to Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Kalajdzic’s Career So Far

The 24-year-old striker has come up through the scenes pretty quickly and attracted a lot of attention with his heroics for Stuttgart. Before joining the German side, he played for an Austrian club Admira Wacker and then went onto make a bigger leap to the Bundesliga.

Kalajdzic has been compared to a lot of players due to his height and presence. He himself admitted to have heard comparisons to AC Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, as well as ex-England international Peter Crouch.

When it comes to discussing his biggest traits, the Austrian forward told the Bundesliga’s website: “I’m not really a classic target man, not really someone who hangs around in the box. I try to incorporate that into my game, to improve that area of my game, but because I played in midfield a lot when I was younger I try to be more creative.

“To be strong, I try to be a modern striker, despite my height. I think I do that well with my ability and the way I play. I like the way we play as well. At the moment I’m very happy. I’m not a classic No.9, maybe something between a nine and a 10, something like that maybe. A nine and a half!”

The 24-year-old seems to be similar to Kane in being comfortable moving around the pitch and dropping deep in midfield to open up free spaces for teammates and drag defenders out of position. The Austrian forward seems a nice fit for Spurs, as he can be someone who can act as a solid alternative to Kane, act as an impact substitute and be another major source of goals for the North London side.
