Paolo Maldini will remain the Club Director of AC Milan after accepting the club’s latest proposal today, on the same day that his contract was set to expire, according to Fabrizio Romano. Although Maldini is a club legend in all definitions of the word, there was some worry as the proposal wasn’t accepted sooner. All that concern is alleviated now, however.
Director of Football Frederic Massara also signed an extension. Maldini and Massara are a crucial duo for the Rossoneri.

Paolo Maldini Stays with AC Milan
A Club Legend
Maldini’s accolades with Milan speak for themselves. They include seven Serie A titles, five Champions League titles, and so much more. The entirety of his playing career was spent with the Rossoneri. For that reason, it was poetic justice for him to return to the club in his post-playing career.

He guided Milan to greatness as a player and is guiding the club back to relevancy in a director role. Since he took over, Milan cut their wage bill, signed very promising players, made it back to the Champions League, and finally won Serie A. As a defender himself, Maldini has an eye for talent in the back line. Two players he prioritized for Milan were Theo Hernandez and Fikayo Tomori, both of which are now well-respected in their positions and amongst the club’s top players. The respect Maldini summons is also pivotal in attracting both young and experienced talent – Sandro Tonali and Olivier Giroud being prime examples.
The work isn’t over for Milan, however. They’ve been struggling to snatch up primary targets this summer, but with Maldini assured a spot with the club things will surely change.
