Two signings have become three for Plymouth Argyle with an Aston Villa midfielder being loaned in. Finn Azaz is just 21 years old and has arrived at Home Park for the forthcoming season after impressing last year in League 2. The club officially announced the signing of Azaz.

Finn Azaz is Loaned Into Home Park
His Career So Far
Despite being an Aston Villa player officially, Azaz hasn’t made a single appearance for the Premier League outfit. He signed from fellow Midlands club West Brom last year, who he also didn’t get a single minute for. His solo professional season with the Baggies saw him head out on loan to Cheltenham Town.
Loans have been the headline of his career so far, also spending last term on a temporary contract. Villa sent him across the border to Newport Country and he raised a lot of eyebrows under the stewardship of James Rowberry. Rowberry preceded the much-loved figure Michael Flynn at Rodney Parade.
Zeroing on his time with Newport, Azaz certainly had the Welsh onlookers excited. He was named as the Young Player of the Year in the division as well as earning a spot in the Team of the Year. He contributed seven goals and six assists to the Newport side and was quoted as saying this on the next move: “I’m ready for that next step; that bigger stadium, that bigger noise. I’m really excited for it.”

Where Azaz Will Fit in at Argyle
Azaz joins an Argyle midfield that was very capable last term. As a more attacking player, he will most likely rival Danny Mayor for a spot in the trio. Mayor has been given the thankless task of replacing the excellent Irishman Graham Carey, but he has certainly grown into the role.

Meanwhile, Panutche Camara said as the window opened, that he wanted out of Devon. The Guinea Bissau international is yet to secure a move but this is an issue for Stephen Schumacher to deal with regardless. It remains to be seen whether Azaz could fill the Camara-sized void were he to leave. Jordan Houghton and Mayor are difficult to drop, so it could prove to be a struggle for the youngster to secure regular minutes.
Azaz is a superb player and comes into a club on the way up. The project at Argyle has so far been unhindered of the shock departure of Ryan Lowe and Azaz’s arrival can only help with that going forward.
