Invaluable Experience Added

Lee Tomlin told doncasterroversfc.co.uk: “I’m delighted. Since I’ve been in the building it’s been really good and I’ve enjoyed myself.

“You’re always nervous entering a new dressing room but knowing a couple of the lads made it easier. I’ve tried to get around the younger lads and encourage them on the pitch.

“As an experienced player I want to have an impact. I’ve loved being here and the manager could see that from the way I trained and played.”

Tomlin is as experienced as they come in the Football League. He’s made well over 300 appearances across the Championship, League One and League Two. He’s always had an eye for goal too, scoring 73 and assisting 67.

The midfielder has represented a series of clubs, including Peterborough United, Middlesbrough and Cardiff.

Most recently, he joined Walsall during the second half of last season, failing to make a big impact, making just five appearances.

However, he has impressed during pre-season as a trialist at the Eco-Power Stadium.

Important Signing for Gary McSheffrey

Manager Gary McSheffrey told the club website on his eighth signing of the summer: “We’re really pleased. We know of Lee’s qualities and he’s had a fantastic career so far.

“He’s back enjoying his football again and we’ve helped put a smile on his face. He’s 33 and still got a lot of good years left in him.

“With more than 550 games under his belt he will be a great addition to what we already have, so we’re happy to get him on board.”

His experience may prove invaluable to a side seeking an immediate return to League One.

Rovers have also signed Harrison Biggins, George Miller, Luke Molyneux, Josh Andrews, Adam Long, James Maxwell and Kyle Hurst ahead of Gary McSheffrey’s first full season as manager.
