Manchester United will be without the services of Anthony Martial and Victor Lindelof for their next Premier League game against Brentford, manager Erik ten Hag has confirmed. The two also missed their opening league match against Brighton & Hove Albion, in which the Red Devils went down to a defeat at Old Trafford.

United Stars Struggling to Recover From Injury
When asked about the fitness situation of the two players, Ten Hag told Manutd.com: “It’s still the same,” hinting that they are still out of action and working on recovery.
Martial was in hot form for the Red Devils in their pre-season campaign, scoring three goals and ending up as their joint-top scorer alongside Jadon Sancho. Lindelof also featured heavily in the pre-season games, starting all the games that took place during the tour of Asia. The timing of the injury doesn’t help the Swede, who has seemingly lost his place in the team to Lisandro Martinez.

However, the two ended up suffering injuries before the start of the new season. Martial missed the last game because of a hamstring injury, which forced Ten Hag to start with Christian Eriksen as a false number nine. The Frenchman now faces competition for the centre-forward role from Cristiano Ronaldo, who is expected to start against Brentford.

Red Devils Desperate to Get First Win of the Season
After suffering an embarrassing loss to Brighton in the first Premier League game of the Erik ten Hag era, United will be desperate to bounce back strongly against the Bees. Brentford played out a 2-2 draw against Leicester City in their first game, but did so in a heroic fashion after coming back from being two goals down.

United will again face a tough test, being under immense pressure to win this one. The players will have to significantly improve their performance levels from the last game and be more efficient with their finishing to defeat Brentford. But, they’ll have to do it without Martial or ‘The Iceman’ Lindelof – who remain on the sidelines and unsure of when they’ll return.
