Chelsea’s Interest
In spite of their recent transfer spending, Cobham still lacks a lot of talent at the top of the pitch. Thomas Tuchel’s side is without Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner after their returns to previous clubs Inter Milan and RB Leipzig, respectively. As an owner, Todd Boehly likely sees this as a risk. Meanwhile, results are not ideal on the pitch. Chelsea have four points from their first three matches after their dearth of attacking talent produced nothing of note in an away hammering at Leeds United.
The Stamford Bridge side are considering several attacking talents. This includes Anthony Gordon, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang providing another option.
Why the Move Could Benefit Anthony Gordon
For Anthony Gordon, the move makes a lot of sense. Everton are hovering above the relegation zone, have very little attacking talent to support the forward and could see a real struggle this season. On the contrary, Chelsea are a Champions League club with a large budget and a lot of potential to put the youngster on a global stage.
On the subject of the global stage, Anthony Gordon is pushing for a place on the plane to Qatar in November. The wings are highly competitive for England with Leeds’ Jack Harrison on an incredible run of form, looking to secure a place in the World Cup squad. However, a place in the Chelsea lineup could sway Three Lions manager Gareth Southgate’s thinking.

Fee Could Be Tempting for the Toffees
The situation at Goodison Park is difficult. Frank Lampard and The Toffees’ hierarchy are already looking for a centre-forward, and losing Anthony Gordon is a risk at this point of the window. However, the reported £60 million fee is a temptation for any club. Selling the promising star is far from ideal at this stage, but the funds could be perfect for an Everton squad looking to build and survive another season in the Premier League.
