Manchester City Defender to Cross The Pennines
Huddersfield Town are without the services of key defender Matty Pearson, who is out through injury. The Terriers are on the hunt for a suitable replacement and Manchester City youngster Luke Mbete fits the bill.
The 18-year-old will join the Championship side for the 2022/2023 season, following in a long line of Premier League loanees to cut their senior first-team football at Huddersfield. Levi Colwill spent last season with the Terriers and Huddersfield will be hoping that Mbete follows in his footsteps.
Huddersfield are trusted by several top-flight clubs and have, in the past, been loaned players for guaranteed first-team ball. Aaron Mooy joined the Terriers in 2016 six days after signing for Manchester City who loaned him straight out. Mooy signed permanently when Huddersfield gained promotion to the Premier League.

Trusted Club for Young Players
Chelsea have sent players to Huddersfield before and the clubs have a good relationship. Colwill and Tino Anjorin both spent part of last season in Yorkshire and the latter has returned on a season-long loan for this season. Kasey Palmer and Trevoh Chalobah also gained valuable experience with the Terriers.
Arsenal have also trusted Huddersfield with players before, sending Emile Smith-Rowe to Yorkshire. The young, versatile forward built up confidence in the Championship with the Terriers and now is an important member of the Premier League club.
Luke Mbete will join Huddersfield before the end of the transfer window. Having clashed heads in a friendly against Barcelona and therefore as a precaution stayed in Spain, the defender should have returned to England now and is expected to sign on loan.
A young, keen defender is just what the Terriers need.
