In spite of all of their summer business, Nottingham Forest have had a tough start to life in the Premier League. James Garner played a pivotal role in their promotion from the Championship, but the Manchester United midfielder is instead on his way to Everton, as per Laurie Whitwell.

Breaking Down the Deal in This Manchester United Transfer Update
James Garner has always been held in high regard with the Old Trafford faithful, but this hasn’t turned into first team minutes. Earlier in the window, it seemed that another loan spell would beckon. Instead though, the Manchester United midfielder will be leaving on a permanent deal.
Everton recently announced the signing of French striker Neal Maupay as they attempt to bridge the gap up front. The Toffees have holes to be filled all over the field though and so the move for Garner follows along with this.
Whitwell has revealed that the deal will be comprised as follows: “Initial 9m rising to 15.5m with add-ons.” To make matters worse for Red Devils fans there is “no buyback”. Chelsea are a club who have lived to regret not putting these sorts of clauses in the deals for Fikayo Tomori and co. United could face a similar fate here.
A Stellar Loan Spell In the Championship
James Garner truly came to the fore during his loan spell last campaign with Nottingham Forest. A number of Steve Cooper’s stars were at the City Ground on a temporary basis, most notably Garner and Djed Spence.

The Manchester United midfielder has just two appearances to his name for the Red Devils whilst he ran out 41 times for Forest as they romped from the foot of the table to playoff glory. Making that jump is easier said than done but with Morgan Gibbs-White costing Cooper and co a sizable fee, there is plenty of stock being placed in the Championship currently.
