Liverpool midfielders Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita are both likely to “evaluate their futures” at the club, reports Fabrizio Romano. This comes after the two were snubbed from the Reds’ Champions League squad, meaning they will not be able to participate in the group stage games this season.

Liverpool Could Lose Two Midfielders Next Year
Jurgen Klopp has made a number of major decisions regarding how he wants his squad to be reshaped in the near future. The first was to sign a midfielder in Arthur Melo on deadline day to add more options in the middle of the park for his side.
Another was the decision not to include Oxlade-Chamberlain or Keita in the Champions League squad. Instead, young midfielder Stefan Bajcetic was included in the squad – perhaps indicating that the German manager does not consider the two senior midfielders as important parts of his squad anymore. That is why the two are evaluating their futures and might push for an exit next year.

Keita already had a chance to do so earlier this summer but decided against moving out. Both his and the English midfielder’s contract with the Reds are due to expire in 2023 and they might decide to run down their deals and leave as free agents.

Injuries Causing Issues for Liverpool Midfielders
The major reason behind frustrations around Oxlade-Chamberlain and Keita is that they often tend to get injured in key moments for the Reds. Keita recently picked up a mystery injury in training and will be out for quite some time.
Oxlade-Chamberlain, on the other hand, picked up a ‘serious hamstring injury’ in pre-season and has not been able to play a single game ever since. It’s these persistent injury problems with the duo which has caused them to be snubbed from the Champions League squad and fall down the pecking order at Anfield.
