Free Agent
The former Chelsea striker is now a free agent after terminating his contract with Atletico Miniero. After a busy summer transfer window, Wolves could be back on the market after an unfortunate injury to new striker Kalajdžić during Saturday’s 1-0 win over Southampton.
Austrian striker Kalajdžić, who joined in a £15 million move from Stuttgart, came off at half-time in his debut game after having pains in his knee. The club’s statement now confirms that the scans on the player revealed an ACL injury and he is set to be out for a long time.
The injury comes as a double blow to Wolves, who also have Mexican forward Raul Jimenez out with a groin injury. Jimenez, who missed the first two games of the season, suffered a knee injury in pre-season and is “still building his resilience and his ability to recover quickly during periods of match congestion”.
The club is now set to act fast and find a solution to the glaring lack of goal threat in their attacking ranks. A move for the lethal Diego Costa could prove to be pivotal in Wolves’ chances of getting a place in the European competitions and avoiding relapses due to the lack of a true striker in the team.

Trials at Wolves for Diego Costa
The Spanish centre-forward is set to have trials with Wolves this week to assess his fitness and suitability for Bruno Lage’s side.
In a second stint at Atletico Madrid, the 33-year-old suffered 15 injuries in three years and, as such, the trial and medical examination could turn out to be more than just a formality for the player. Also, in his short stint in the city of Belo Horizonte for Atletico Miniero, the forward suffered more injury problems and was eclipsed by former Brazil international forward Hulk in the team.
It is left to see whether the striker could prove to the Wolves’ medical team that his injury woes at Madrid and Brazil are all in the past.
Return to the Premier League for Diego Costa
The lethal Spanish striker with a total of 187 career goals in 495 games is remembered for his famous controversial stay at Chelsea in the Premier League. The striker had a fairly bumpy ride in his career at Stamford Bridge but he was also a key member in the Chelsea team that won two Premier League trophies.
With 70 goal contributions in Premier League 88 games, Diego Costa is now set for a return to England.
