Having previously graced TV screens as a superb EFL pundit, Liam Rosenior’s knowledge of the game extended onto the side-lines when he was appointed interim manager of Derby County this past summer. The Englishman hasn’t had an awful start to life with Derby County, but they’ve shown him the door following the appointment of Paul Warne as full-time manager.

About Rosenior’s Time at Pride Park
Derby County have been through some very tough times in recent seasons. Many people both on and off of the field have left when the going has got tough, but not Liam Rosenior. He was highly regarded during Wayne Rooney’s time in the technical area and has since got a chance of his own. With the Rams currently languishing in mid-table, 11th to be exact, Rosenior has been relieved of his duties.
The League One club announced the arrival of Paul Warne just days ago and so the future of Rosenior was hanging in the balance. It was hoped, by many fans, that he would remain in one role or another given his significance there, however this clearly didn’t mesh with what the hierarchy and Warne have planned going forward.
Rosenior’s only prior coaching experience came in the youth ranks at Brighton and Hove Albion. He spent the final years of his playing career with the Seasiders and remains a much-loved figure at the Amex. It was then Dutchman Phillip Cocu who brought the 39-year-old to Derby. Warne himself was full of praise for his predecessor, stating: “What he’s done in the last couple of months is remarkable and I have the utmost respect for him. I hope to see him back in a dugout soon.” It remains to be seen what comes next for Rosenior, however, after a solid display in charge of the Rams, it might not be too long before he’s back on the side-lines at another club soon.

Where Next for Derby County?
Rosenior’s future may be up in the air, but his now former club are way ahead of the curve. Paul Warne arrives at Derby having put in some notable and particularly loyal years with Rotherham United. He has finally called it quits in spite of The Millers’ Championship status.
When speaking about his new club, Warne said the following: “I honestly believe that this is one of the few clubs that’s out of the top flight that will one day get back in it.” There is no doubting the history at Derby but for one reason or another, they have slipped further down the pecking order. Big names such as Frank Lampard, Cocu and Rooney have come through the door so maybe a more subtle name like Warne can make all the difference.
Derby will be hoping that their new manager will be enough to help the club climb back out of League One and back to their previous heights.
