Fresh off of a Champions League win over Barcelona, Inter Milan will visit Sassuolo this weekend. One of the key men for the Italian giants is Lautaro Martinez, and his future has been up in the air in recent years. Amidst interest from elsewhere in Europe, the Inter Milan striker is content at the club, as per Fabrizio Romano.

Inter Milan Striker Staying Put for Now
Lautaro Martinez first arrived on Italian shores in 2018. The Argentinian moved to Milan from Racing Club, in his home country. As an Inter Milan striker, he has gone from strength to strength, constantly being a threat in front of goals. His partnership with Romelu Lukaku in the title-winning season under the stewardship of Antonio Conte was something to behold. Even though the Belgian has left and since returned, Martinez has continued to deliver.
“The biggest proposals for Lautaro Martinez arrived in the summer of 2021.” This was just after he helped his side win the Scudetto. “Tottenham and Atletico Madrid were interested, with Spurs prepared to offer more than £57 million.”
Tottenham Hotspur have been looking to replenish in the final third for a while now, although Juventus winger Dejan Kulusevski is thriving since making the move. Meanwhile, Richarlison arrived this summer, and so their interest has moved on from Martinez.
“We received crazy bids last summer, but we decided to stay. In the future, everything can happen” is the official line from the agent of the Inter Milan striker. He “recently extended his contract with the club” which is a sign of his intent going forward.

Looking Forward
Romelu Lukaku has been injured so is yet to feature prominently on his second stint in Milan. This has afforded both Edin Dzeko and Joaquin Correa more chances alongside Lautaro Martinez up front. Dzeko started against former club AS Roma, managed by Jose Mourinho, last weekend. Meanwhile, Correa has struck up a strong relationship both on and off of the field with his fellow countryman.
Simone Inzaghi is under some pressure at the San Siro and the Inter Milan striker is one of a few players who can help keep their manager’s head above water. Another is imposing centre-half Milan Skriniar. The club “are planning a new meeting with Skriniar’s agent in order to offer him a new contract” to secure his future with the Nerazzurri.
