Manchester United are willing to let Cristiano Ronaldo leave for free in the January transfer window, claims Mark Ogden of ESPN. This comes after the Portuguese forward walked out on his teammates towards the end of their 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League.

United Have Received ‘No Interest’ for Ronaldo
The Red Devils have been left in a difficult position with the 37-year-old forward after his recent antics, which were triggered by him being benched for eight of the 10 Premier League games so far this season by Erik ten Hag. ESPN adds that Ronaldo has been listed as available for a free transfer by the Manchester side since he started to push for an exit during the summer transfer window.

United hoped that a club would at least be willing to sign him on a free and help take his £500,000-a-week wages off their books. However, it’s claimed that Saudi Arabia club Al Hilal are the only club to have shown genuine interest in signing him.

Despite punishing him for his walkout against Spurs and dropping him from the matchday squad for the Chelsea game, Ten Hag stated that he still considers Ronaldo an important part of his team. But internally, ESPN adds that there is hope within the club that they might be able to offload the Portuguese forward if he has a productive World Cup with Portugal.
The 37-year-old will probably be playing his final international competition next month and is expected to feature heavily for his national team. If he can score lots of goals and help take his country deep into the knockout rounds, there could be more interest for him in January.

The Red Devils will also consider the possibility of loaning him in January if the other club is willing to pay some of his wages. Ronaldo, who has been slammed as disrespectful and a “spoilt brat” by ex-Aston Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor for his actions against Spurs, has only scored 2 goals for United this season and is no longer a regular starting player.
