Man of the Match
The Leeds United man of the match from the clash in Merseyside was Illan Meslier. As the idiom goes, without Meslier in net this could have been something of a cricket score. There wasn’t a whole lot he could do for the shot that went in, but aside from that he was almost perfect.
His one-on-one skills were impeccable yet again, stopping Darwin Nunez from scoring in spite of his having a great view on goal several times. That includes a beautifully struck effort from the edge of the box that the Frenchman swatted away as he kept Leeds in the match. A score of 9.68 out of 10 leaves his status as effectively untouchable.
The Amazing Tyler Adams
Tyler Adams has continued to have an impact at Elland Road, and this match was another sign of his dominance in midfield. He was a significant reason that Liverpool looked like they couldn’t move the ball around in the slightest. The American dived into challenge after challenge and intercepted the ball all over the pitch.
As this young Leeds United side grows, it will need major characters in the dressing room to guide the group forwards. The Thorp Arch outfit will look to keep the defensive midfielder for the foreseeable future, not only for his pure skill, but for his leadership.
