Zaha’s Contract Expires Next Summer
Despite his contract expiring at Selhurst Park next summer, 29-year-old Wilfried Zaha has yet to decide on his future. A contract offer from the Eagles is reportedly incoming. However, Palace fans will be concerned that their star man could be allowed to leave for nothing next summer.
London rivals Arsenal and Chelsea are watching the situation closely with clubs allowed to negotiate with the player from January 1st ahead of a free transfer.
Fabrizio Romano on Saha Contract and Possible Move Away From Palace
Speaking on his daily briefing via Caught Offside, Romano had this to say on the developing situation regarding the Crystal Palace star man. He said: Wilfried Zaha has not made any decision yet on his future. Crystal Palace have informed him of the intention to offer a new deal. In this case, it’s only up to Zaha and he has not decided yet.
I think he could be an interesting solution for many big six clubs, but he needs to play regularly. It’s really important for him. As things stand, he could be a free agent next summer and that’s a great opportunity for many clubs, but let’s see what happens in the next few months.
Zaha’s Last Exit Did Not Go as Expected
Should Wilfried Zaha leave Palace for a top-six club, it will not be the first time it has happened. Following three impressive seasons at the beginning of his career with the Eagles, Zaha moved to Manchester United in 2013 for an initial £10 million on a five-and-a-half-year contract. Within half a season, Zaha was loaned out to Cardiff City.
One year after moving to Old Trafford, Zaha was back at Selhurst Park. It was initially on loan; however, the move was soon made permanent. The Ivory Coast international may now feel it is time to try another move away from his familiar surroundings.
