‘Here We Go’: Fabrizio Romano Issues Major Wolverhampton Wanderers Transfer Update

Matheus Cunha

According to Fabrizio Romano, Wolverhampton Wanderers are set to sign Matheus Cunha. The forward is heading to the Premier League with Romano’s coveted “here we go”.

Matheus Cunha to Join Wolverhampton Wanderers on Loan

Loan With Obligation to Buy

The 23-year-old forward Matheus Cunha looks to be heading to England as the Premier League club’s first signing of the January window. Cunha has played 11 matches for Atletico Madrid this season with two assists, but has only appeared once in the league. The Brazilian has eight caps for his home country.

Wolves manager Julen Lopetegui wanted striking reinforcement, as the club struggle at the bottom of the Premier League. The side, who sit rock bottom of the table, have only scored eight times this campaign, so they need something to change. Bringing in Cunha looks to be an inspired move.

Although the forward has not played much in La Liga over the last few months, the move to England will see Cunha get much more game time. The deal has been agreed verbally between the clubs along, and personal terms are also ready.

Medical Scheduled

The forward is being scheduled for a medical with all the necessary documents for the transfer being prepared in the next few days. What has been agreed is a loan deal with an obligation to buy at the end of the season. This will cost Wolves between £35-44 million with add ons.

The Premier League club will be hoping that Matheus Cunha can help turn around their fortunes and enable the club to stay in the top flight. Relegation would prove expensive for the West Midlands club. Although they would have parachute payments, a £44 million player on their books without being in the top flight could be a financial disaster.

If this move works right for both Wolves and Cunha and the club secure their place in the top flight for another year, then it will be a very wise investment. Providing international clearance is received and there are no problems going forward, then Cunha will be a Premier League player in January.
