Keylor Navas to Help Nottingham Forest With Premier League Survival Bid

Keylor Navas Brings Wealth of Leadership and Experience

Dean Henderson was enjoying an impressive loan spell away from Manchester United, but he injured his thigh in Forest’s 2-0 victory over Leicester City on January 14th. It has been reported that the shot-stopper is set to be out for four weeks.

The Reds are now frantically searching for cover and competition to back up goalkeeper Wayne Hennessy. This could come in the form of three-time European champion Navas. His limited minutes this season and the opportunity to play in England make Forest an attractive prospect for the goalkeeper. The 36-year-old has only made two appearances in all competitions this season, with Gianluigi Donnarumma cementing the number-one spot at the Parc des Princes.

Although Steve Cooper’s men sit in 13th place in the Premier League, only Bournemouth (42) have conceded more goals than the Reds (35) this campaign. Henderson is likely to return to the starting line-up when he makes his injury comeback, but the guidance and advice that Navas would offer could enormously benefit the Englishman.

Another Busy Transfer Window for Nottingham Forest

It has been a hectic month for The City Ground board, who have already made three signings this January. Danilo and Gustavo Scarpa have joined the Premier League outfit from Brazilian side Palmeiras. Chris Wood has also arrived from Newcastle to bolster Steve Cooper’s attacking options after the injury to Taiwo Awoniyi.

If Navas makes the switch to England he would become Forest’s 26th signing since their promotion to the top flight. The potential signing of the former Real Madrid goalkeeper is another statement of intent from owner Evangelos Marinakis, who is targeting Premier League football at the City Ground next season. The goalkeeper started in three consecutive Champions League finals from 2016-2018 and boasts a stacked trophy cabinet. Navas would be an impressive and outlandish coup for this ambitious club.
